“We’re very pleased to be partnering with all of the major wireless carriers to create this great contest, someone will have the ride of their life!” said Kevin Sweeney, Robin Hood Rally Vice President of Business Development.
The Contest winners have THEIR CHOICE of driving the Ferrari on the course fast or slow speed (with an instructor), OR just taking an enjoyable cruise along with lots of photos and video and other great souvenirs from a very special day!” Ridgefielders part of Reality TV car race rally Written by Connor McCarthy Thursday, 03 June 2010 In films at least, amateur street car racing has established itself as a mesmerizing activity. The thrill of watching drivers maneuver through dangerous twists and turns has proven a commercial hit with audiences.
And yet, something is always missing from the caliber of street racing seen in movies.
The courses seem fake, the drivers all have unrealistically expensive cars, and the danger is only simulated. Although some have come close, no one has ever been able to provide viewers with authentic street racing action.
Until now!
The Robin Hood Rally gathers amateur racers that span the American landscape. They represent a wide socio-economic mix limited only by their imagination and raw talent. This diverse group of racers will come together to compete in their own equally diverse cars on closed public roads. These road courses will consist of 7-15 mile loops similar to closed road course racetracks like Watkins Glen or Virginia International Raceway.
A huge difference is that the Robin Hood Racers will pass through and touch the rural heartland of America and hopefully The Robin Hood Rally will provide some fun and entertainment along the way.
In addition, awards will be presented including “The John Fitch” award. Mr. Fitch, a highly decorated war hero and flying ace from WWII, is also a very famous and well-respected professional race car driver, and an inventor whose highway safety barriers have saved countless lives. He is considered one of the most gentlemanly racers of all time. Mr. Fitch embodies the spirit of giving - both to the sport of car racing and to his community. The racing will consist of timed runs on Friday and Saturday on a designated Rally Course, with vehicle setup to begin on Thursday afternoon. Along with Michael Noval as our Producer, we are proud to have Frank Markus, Charles Hendrickson and Steve Santagati as our show hosts. |
